ABOUT NILE

Vision:
Fair & equitable treatment for all people in the criminal justice system.

Mission:
Through research, programming and advocacy, the NILE seeks to raise public understanding and discussion about the criminal justice system and policies that impact us as a society.

History:
The NILE, a nonprofit public policy institute, was founded in August 2001 by Veronica F. Coleman-Davis and 12 African American former United States Attorneys to produce long term solutions to the disproportionate representation of minorities in the criminal justice system. The NILE conducts research, hosts public forums and disseminates information on a variety of topics to policy makers and the public to inform them of the influcence local, state and national policies have on the disparities in the system.
